A contentious Orange Order march in Portadown was delayed after thousands of protesters blocked Garvaghy Road despite a court ruling permitting the procession.

Tensions persist in Portadown as a contentious Orange Order parade remains stalled following a massive counter-protest on Garvaghy Road. A late-night ruling by the Belfast High Court had upheld the Parades Commission's decision to permit 35 members to carry out a limited, silent march past the predominantly nationalist district for the first time since the late 1990s.

However, thousands of demonstrators gathered along the route to prevent the procession from taking place. Northern Ireland First Minister Michelle O'Neill was among those participating in the demonstration. Although the march was scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM and conclude by 9:30 AM, police halted the marchers near Drumcree Church to avert potential violent clashes, leaving the parade's completion uncertain as organizers held talks with law enforcement.
