Norway's Klaveness says FIFA chief Infantino faces pressure after dropping World Cup plan

Lise Klaveness says FIFA chief Gianni Infantino faces a harder re-election path after abandoning plans to sell private shares in the World Cup.
Norwegian Football Federation president Lise Klaveness stated that FIFA President Gianni Infantino faces a more challenging re-election path after abandoning proposals to sell stakes in major assets, including the World Cup, to private investors.
Speaking to Norwegian broadcaster NRK, Klaveness indicated that the decision represents a significant shift in leadership dynamics within global football governing bodies. She noted that while Infantino previously enjoyed broad international support outside of Norway during recent meetings in the United States, opposition has materialized following the controversial financial strategy.
Infantino remains the sole official candidate in the upcoming FIFA presidential election despite the friction generated by the discarded investment plans.
