Moldovan officials signal reduced winter gas compensation while Moldovagaz's head clarifies executive pay and opposition figures urge earlier vetting of public officials.

Moldovan officials and public figures addressed several governance and economic challenges this week. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Prime Minister Vasile Tofana indicated that government support for winter gas bills will be reduced compared to previous years, with precise subsidy amounts to be finalized after the national budget is approved.

Meanwhile, Moldovagaz chief executive Vadim Ceban publicly clarified his monthly salary following comments by Grosu, stating he receives approximately 150,000 Moldovan lei rather than the 400,000 lei figure mentioned by the parliamentary speaker. Separately, opposition politician and former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo criticized the government's vetting process for public officials, arguing that candidate integrity should be thoroughly investigated prior to appointment rather than after ministers assume office.
