Moldova's government declared a state of alert in the energy and hydrological sectors on July 28 as fuel prices reached new peaks.

Moldova's Cabinet of Ministers voted on July 28 to declare a state of alert across the energy and hydrological sectors amid an ongoing fuel crisis. Prime Minister Vasile Tofan convened the meeting to establish rapid response mechanisms for potential operational disruptions.

The decision coincides with a fresh increase in maximum reference fuel prices set by the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE). Under the new price caps, standard 95-octane petrol rose to 30.40 lei per liter, while standard diesel reached 30.70 lei per liter. Officials stated the measures aim to ensure readiness as domestic energy costs escalate.
