Latvian consulate in eastern Ukraine damaged during deadly Russian attack

A Russian strike damaged Latvia's consulate in Sloviansk, eastern Ukraine, killing at least six civilians and injuring dozens.
Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže confirmed that a Russian strike damaged her country's consulate in the eastern Ukrainian city of Sloviansk on Friday. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least six Ukrainian civilians and left dozens more injured.
Expressing outrage over the incident, Braže condemned the targeting of diplomatic facilities and civilian infrastructure. European Union officials and Baltic neighbor states also strongly criticized the fatal bombardment, calling for increased accountability for actions against civilian and diplomatic sites.
The strike comes amid ongoing Russian shelling across eastern Ukraine, which has continually placed urban areas and diplomatic presence at severe risk throughout the region.
