Kyiv targeted by drone strikes as EU warns against Russian hybrid threats

Russian forces initiated overnight drone strikes against Kyiv, injuring one resident. The attack followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's address at the United Nations General Assembly, where he referred to Russian President Vladimir Putin as "patient zero who wanted the war." Meanwhile, Moscow's defence ministry signaled a renewed military push aimed at Ukraine's power grid. In response to recent Ukrainian strikes targeting Russian oil refineries, Moscow has been forced to procure refined fuel internationally to meet domestic demand.

Beyond the battlefield, European leaders expressed growing concern over hybrid warfare. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen asserted, "We will not tolerate attacks on EU soil," following the identification of two suspects linked to Moscow in connection with explosive drone activity in Leipzig, Germany.
