An Italian Navy vessel boarded the Cameroon-flagged tanker Toa Payoh, an EU-sanctioned ship linked to Russia's shadow fleet, off Pantelleria.
An Italian Navy vessel intercepted and boarded a Cameroon-flagged tanker off the island of Pantelleria in the Mediterranean Sea.
The ship, identified as the chemical and petroleum carrier Toa Payoh, was reportedly heading toward the Libyan port of Misrata when Italian military personnel intervened after the vessel failed to respond to communications. The Toa Payoh is currently subject to European Union sanctions due to its alleged ties to Russia's shadow fleet, a network of merchant vessels used to bypass international trade restrictions.
