Ireland's Land Development Agency is expanding its site acquisition strategy beyond major urban centers to support regional housing developments.

Ireland's Land Development Agency (LDA) is expanding its site acquisition strategy beyond major urban centers to support regional development and deliver larger housing projects.

According to its midyear progress update, the state agency is targeting locations capable of accommodating developments of at least 200 homes. Chief Executive John Coleman noted that while the agency previously focused primarily on major cities, it is now seeking land in regional towns to address housing demand across the country.

The LDA emerged as one of the most active buyers in the private land market last year, acquiring multiple development sites with the capacity for thousands of residential units. The shift toward regional land purchases aims to broaden the agency's impact and encourage balanced spatial growth throughout Ireland.
