Diplomatic talks over the Strait of Hormuz near completion amid U.S. warnings in the Middle East, while strikes in Kherson and a ship sinking mark ongoing violence in Ukraine.

Negotiations between Iran and Oman concerning the Strait of Hormuz have reached their final phase, according to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The diplomatic efforts follow U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to pause a planned military strike against Iran. Despite the diplomatic progress, U.S. embassies across nine Middle Eastern nations issued security warnings, advising citizens of possible unforeseen escalation and urging them to prepare to leave the region.

In Ukraine, Russian air strikes targeting the southern city of Kherson killed a 54-year-old woman and injured 18 people, local authorities reported. Separately, Alexey Likhachev, head of Russia's Rosatom state nuclear company, stated that Ukrainian naval drones sank the Russian container vessel Janjina in international Black Sea waters. Likhachev noted that all 17 crew members were rescued following the incident.
