Hungary's Tisza Party selects presidential nominee ahead of parliamentary vote

Hungary's Tisza Party faction met on Saturday to select its candidate for the country's upcoming presidential election.
Hungary's opposition Tisza Party faction convened on Saturday to select its nominee for the country's upcoming presidential election. Faction leader Andrea Bujdosó confirmed lawmakers were choosing among three prospective candidates, whose names have not been publicly disclosed.
The official nomination deadline is set for Monday at 10:00 AM local time, leading into a parliamentary vote scheduled for Tuesday. The election follows the termination of former President Tamás Sulyok's mandate on July 20 under the 17th Amendment to the Fundamental Law.
In addition to the presidential vote, the National Assembly is expected to convene an extraordinary session later in August to elect the head of the National Asset Recovery Office, with candidate applications open through August 16.
