Hungary's Tisza Party faction votes on presidential nominee

Hungary's opposition Tisza Party faction met Saturday to vote on its presidential nominee ahead of Monday's submission deadline and Tuesday's parliamentary vote.
Hungary’s opposition Tisza Party parliamentary faction convened on Saturday to vote on its candidate for the country's upcoming presidential election. Faction leader Andrea Bujdosó confirmed that lawmakers aim to select a nominee from a shortlist of three undisclosed candidates ahead of the formal submission deadline on Monday at 10:00 AM.
The National Assembly is scheduled to hold its vote on the new president on Tuesday, August 11. The presidency became vacant on July 20 following the end of former President Tamás Sulyok’s tenure under recent constitutional amendments.
Separately, parliament will convene an extraordinary session later in August to elect the head of the National Asset Recovery Office, with candidate applications open through August 16.
