Hungary expands its toll contract review to IT tycoon Gábor Emőri after recovering 2.27 billion forints from a Mészáros-linked fund.

Hungarian authorities are expanding their review of national toll system procurements following the successful recovery of 2.27 billion forints (€5.7 million) from a private equity fund linked to businessman Lőrinc Mészáros. Transport and Investment Minister Dávid Vitézy announced the repayment, which stems from an audit of 64.5 billion forints in toll infrastructure acquisitions negotiated under former minister János Lázár.

State officials are now examining historical procurement contracts awarded to IT entrepreneur Gábor Emőri, one of Hungary’s wealthiest businessmen. Emőri spent 12 years developing and managing core elements of the electronic toll system. Investigators are auditing those past deals to assess whether further public funds can be reclaimed as part of the state's ongoing asset recovery efforts.
