Hungary's Transport Ministry expands its audit into state toll contracts, probing IT entrepreneur Gábor Emőri after recovering 2.3 billion forints.

Hungary's Ministry of Transport, led by Dávid Vitézy, has expanded its investigation into state contracts governing the national electronic toll collection network. The review now focuses on software infrastructure contracts associated with technology entrepreneur Gábor Emőri, whose companies managed key components of the system over a twelve-year period.

The expanded probe follows the return of nearly 2.3 billion forints to state coffers from a private equity fund linked to businessman Lőrinc Mészáros. According to Vitézy, the repayment relates to a series of toll system acquisitions totaling 64.5 billion forints conducted under former minister János Lázár. Authorities continue to evaluate the legal, financial, and operational terms governing state procurement for the toll infrastructure.
