Hungarian public records show over 1,900 billion forints spent on corporate subsidies and 40 billion forints allocated to foreign real estate acquisitions since 2010.

Hungarian public financial data spanning from 2010 to early 2026 highlights substantial spending on foreign real estate acquisitions and corporate subsidies under Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's government.

An investigation by HVG revealed that the state allocated approximately 40 billion forints to purchase 26 diplomatic and representative properties worldwide, including sites in Switzerland, Washington, Tehran, and North Korea. Observers noted that location choices frequently favored prestige over operational functionality.

Concurrently, Telex reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade distributed nearly 1,904 billion forints across 688 subsidy contracts during the same timeframe, excluding tax relief measures. Over 54 percent of these funds targeted automotive and battery manufacturing sectors, raising questions regarding the long-term economic modernization achieved by these investments.
