Hungary has recovered 2.27 billion forints from a private equity fund linked to Lőrinc Mészáros following an audit into state electronic toll acquisitions.

Hungarian Transport Minister Dávid Vitézy announced that a private equity fund connected to businessman Lőrinc Mészáros has reimbursed 2.27 billion forints to the state. The repayment follows a government review of a 64.5 billion forint transaction authorized under former minister János Lázár, in which three electronic toll management companies were bought by the state.

According to officials, the asset recovery process is continuing, with authorities now focusing on historical public procurement contracts tied to IT businessman Gábor Emőri. Emőri spent 12 years developing and operating Hungary's electronic toll network, becoming one of the primary beneficiaries of state technology deals. Investigators are examining previous agreements to assess whether additional funds can be reclaimed for the public treasury.
