Record-low water levels on the Danube threaten energy security in Serbia, while diplomatic talks continue over the Strait of Hormuz and fighting persists in Ukraine.

Record-low water levels on the Danube and Rhine rivers have raised concerns over a potential energy crisis in Serbia and the broader region. Hydrological measurements at Bezdan, on the Serbian border, reached an all-time low of -163 centimeters, breaking a record set in 1909.

Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that negotiations with Oman over the Strait of Hormuz are in their final phase after U.S. President Donald Trump paused planned military strikes. However, U.S. embassies across the Middle East warned citizens of potential "unforeseen escalation."

In Ukraine, local authorities updated the toll from Russian strikes on Kherson to 18 injured and one dead. In the Black Sea, Russian nuclear agency Rosatom stated a Ukrainian drone attack sank its civilian cargo vessel, Janjina, though all 17 crew members were rescued.
