Germany plans to order two Piranha 5 electronic warfare vehicle variants for the Bundeswehr by late 2026 under the GeSys SgK procurement program.

The German Armed Forces plan to acquire two new variants of electronic warfare vehicles designed to disrupt enemy communications systems. According to industry reports, the procurement effort, designated as the GeSys SgK project, will utilize the Piranha 5 wheeled armored platform as its foundation.

The specialized vehicles, informally referred to as Knifefish jamming tanks, are intended to strengthen the Bundeswehr's tactical electronic spectrum capabilities. Informed sources indicate that a formal procurement bill exceeding the 25-million-euro parliamentary approval threshold is expected to be submitted to lawmakers for approval in the fourth quarter of 2026. Responsible procurement authorities are currently overseeing the acquisition steps for the new vehicles.
