Germany and NATO are preparing major exercises for 2026, including Grand Quadriga and Steadfast Foxtrot, to test rapid troop deployments and civil-military resilience.

Germany's military and NATO are planning major exercises for 2026 designed to test rapid troop deployment capabilities and civil-military resilience during collective defense scenarios.

Following NATO's "Steadfast Dart 2026" maneuver, the German Army will execute exercise "Grand Quadriga 2026" to practice transferring elements of the Allied Reaction Force across European territory. Alongside these operational movements, NATO's Allied Joint Support and Enabling Command, based in Ulm, conducted a Medical Wargame under the framework of "Steadfast Foxtrot 2026". This exercise focuses on evaluating whole-of-society resilience, logistics, and medical support capabilities under Article 5 conditions.

The combined training initiatives reflect a broader effort within the alliance to reinforce deterrence strategies along its eastern flank and streamline rapid-response coordination between military forces and civilian authorities.
