German police shoot dead suspect in Berlin Pride event car attack

German police have shot and killed a 21-year-old suspect following a vehicle attack near a Berlin Pride event in Tiergarten park on Saturday evening. The attack left at least one person dead and 15 others injured, several critically.

Authorities identified the deceased suspect as Abdul Ballout, a German citizen of Lebanese descent who was previously known to police. Officers fatally shot Ballout on Sunday evening after he allegedly charged at them with a knife in an allotment garden area.

Speaking to German media, the suspect's father expressed belief that his son had been radicalized. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the exact motives behind the incident.
