German police are investigating a suspected sabotage attempt at an electrical substation in Dormagen after discovering a launch device and a letter claiming responsibility.

German authorities have launched an investigation into an attempted sabotage action after a suspicious object was discovered near an electrical substation in Dormagen, North Rhine-Westphalia.

According to Cologne police, a passerby found the device near the facility located between Cologne and Düsseldorf. Investigators believe the object was a makeshift launching mechanism designed to target the local power grid. Similar apparatuses were recently located near other substations in the region, including in Weisweiler.

Law enforcement confirmed the receipt of a letter claiming responsibility for the incident. The document reportedly references previously known cases across North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg. Forensic examinations remain ongoing as police search for potential suspects.
