German court rules blanket admission ban on vulnerable Afghans unlawful

Germany's top court has ruled that a general freeze on admitting vulnerable Afghans is unlawful, requiring individual visa reviews.
Germany’s Federal Constitutional Court has struck down a blanket suspension of entry programs for vulnerable Afghan citizens, ruling that the government's policy constitutes arbitrary action. The judgment stems from a constitutional complaint lodged by an Afghan mother and her two children whose entry was halted after the Federal Ministry of the Interior paused admission commitments.
Judges in Karlsruhe determined that authorities cannot enforce a general ban on intake and must instead review each visa application on an individual basis. Following the decision, the family's case will be re-evaluated by the Berlin-Brandenburg Higher Administrative Court to assess their eligibility under prior state assurances.
