France's Constitutional Council has approved assisted dying legislation with three interpretative reservations while striking down a proposed social media ban for minors under 15.

France's Constitutional Council has validated legislation introducing a conditional right to assisted dying, alongside approving emergency agricultural measures. In its ruling, the court declared that parliament holds authority over major societal reforms, provided fundamental constitutional rights are preserved. To address ethical concerns, the council attached three interpretative reservations, including a conscience clause permitting healthcare establishments and faith-based institutions to refuse to perform end-of-life procedures.

Concurrently, the council struck down the primary provision of a separate bill aiming to ban children under 15 from accessing social media, determining that a general prohibition disproportionately restricts constitutional freedoms. President Emmanuel Macron praised the outcome, stating that the reform "parachève un débat démocratique exemplaire".
