France's Constitutional Council validated conditional assisted dying legislation while striking down a proposed social media ban for minors under 15.

France's Constitutional Council has approved legislation legalizing conditional assisted dying and an emergency agricultural bill, while striking down a proposed social media ban for minors under 15.

The high court ruled that setting end-of-life regulations falls within parliamentary authority. However, justices issued reservations to protect conscience rights for private and faith-based healthcare facilities, including Catholic hospitals. President Emmanuel Macron welcomed the ruling, stating that it "completes an exemplary democratic debate."

In contrast, the court invalidated the primary clause of the social media bill, ruling that a general ban for children under 15 represents a disproportionate restriction on public liberties. The decision effectively blocks a signature presidential initiative.
