Former Centre Party leader Demirok tops Riksdag list in Östergötland

Former Centre Party leader Muharrem Demirok has been placed at the top of the party's candidate list in Östergötland for the upcoming Swedish parliamentary election. Demirok, who stepped down from the leadership position following internal criticism, is seeking to maintain his seat in the Riksdag.

Reflecting on his tenure and future ambitions, Demirok identified changing the current administration as his primary political objective, stating that "the absolute most important issue for me is that we get a new government."

His nomination marks a continuation of his parliamentary career, which began following the 2022 general election. The Centre Party's local branch in Östergötland confirmed his position as their lead candidate, positioning him for a prominent role in the region's campaign.
