Explosions reported across southern Iran amid efforts to rebuild air defenses

Explosions were reported across strategic locations in southern Iran following U.S. strike announcements, as Tehran reportedly moves to acquire Chinese MANPADS.
Explosions were reported across several strategic sites in southern and southwestern Iran, including Bandar Abbas, Abadan, and key islands in the Strait of Hormuz such as Abu Musa, Qeshm, and Kish. The blasts followed announcements from the United States regarding new military strikes in the region, with U.S. Central Command releasing details on the targets.
The reported strikes coincide with efforts by Tehran to fortify its short-range air defense network. Reports indicate Iran is set to receive an initial shipment of up to 400 Chinese-made man-portable air-defense systems (MANPADS) in the coming weeks. The deal, valued between $60 million and $70 million, aims to restore Iranian defensive capabilities damaged during ongoing military encounters with the United States and Israel. Neither Beijing nor Tehran has officially confirmed the arms transaction.
