Europe faces another intense heatwave as tourists continue southern travel
Meteorologists warn of a prolonged European heatwave next week following severe wildfires, evacuations in France, and emergency declarations in Spain.
Europe is preparing for another prolonged heatwave next week, which meteorologists warn could bring the highest temperatures of the summer. The forecast follows a week of severe drought, extreme heat, and widespread wildfires across Southern Europe. In France, approximately 40,000 people have been evacuated, while parts of Spain have declared a state of emergency due to raging blazes.
Despite the dangerous conditions and recurring extreme summer weather in recent years, holidaymakers continue traveling to Mediterranean destinations. State meteorologist Leonidas Tsopouridis noted that the upcoming weather system will affect a "very large part of Europe" with exceptionally high temperatures.
