EU warns Russia over soil attacks as Moscow targets Ukraine's energy grid

Russian forces launched renewed drone strikes against Kyiv, injuring a resident and marking an intensified campaign against Ukraine's energy infrastructure ahead of winter. The bombardment followed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's address to the United Nations General Assembly. In response, Ukrainian long-range strikes targeting Russian petroleum facilities have disrupted Moscow's domestic fuel supply, forcing it to import foreign fuel.

Meanwhile, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen warned that the European Union "will not tolerate attacks on EU soil" and remains "ready to respond." Her statement follows an investigation by German law enforcement that identified two suspects with ties to Moscow in connection with an explosive drone plot in Leipzig.
