EU nations bolster security following sabotage warnings and Leipzig airport incident

European authorities heighten security precautions following warnings of Russian sabotage and the identification of two suspects in an explosive device discovery at Leipzig airport.
European security agencies remain on high alert following intelligence warnings and investigations into potential hybrid attacks across the continent. German authorities identified two suspects tied to explosive devices found at Leipzig airport: a Russian citizen holding a Latvian passport and a Belarusian national carrying Russian documentation. Italian security officials noted the Belarusian suspect held an Italian Schengen visa, though initial findings suggest he did not pass through Italy.
Concurrently, Danish intelligence services warned that Moscow may target domestic industrial facilities with sabotage. In response to growing security concerns, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated the bloc "will not tolerate attacks on EU soil."
The incidents unfold as Russia launches a renewed military campaign against Ukraine's energy network following Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil infrastructure.
