Edinburgh's historic King's Theatre saved by last-minute rescue campaign
A fundraising campaign has saved the planned refurbishment of Edinburgh's historic King's Theatre after the project faced cancellation.
A major redevelopment project for Edinburgh's historic King's Theatre has been successfully rescued following a critical fundraising effort. Fiona Gibson, chief executive of Capital Theatres, described the campaign to secure the venue's future as a "do or die" moment after the planned refurbishment faced severe financial jeopardy. Capital Theatres, which manages the facility on behalf of Edinburgh's city council, had been on the verge of informing its board that the project would have to be abandoned before an eleventh-hour intervention secured the necessary backing. The venue can now proceed with its long-anticipated restoration.
