Environmental groups in eastern Madrid are campaigning for a 700-hectare green reserve surrounding the Ambroz Lagoons to protect local biodiversity.

Community groups and environmental organizations in eastern Madrid are advocating for the creation of a massive green zone surrounding the Ambroz Lagoons, spanning between 600 and 700 hectares. Located across several eastern districts including San Blas-Canillejas and Vicálvaro, the proposed reserve aims to serve as a major ecological corridor comparable to the capital's western Casa de Campo park. The area currently functions as a vital wetland and refuge for local biodiversity. However, local activists express concern over potential environmental disruption, warning that recent authorizations by the Regional Government of Madrid could threaten the site's preservation and ecological integrity.
