Former Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte defended his government's Covid-19 response during a three-hour parliamentary inquiry testimony in Rome.

Former Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte appeared before a parliamentary inquiry commission in Rome to defend his government's management of the Covid-19 pandemic. Speaking for over three hours, the Five Star Movement leader rejected all allegations of unlawful conduct regarding emergency decrees, mask procurement, and vaccine deployment.

During his testimony, Conte revealed he submitted an anonymous report to Rome prosecutors concerning potential irregularities in a 100-million-euro mask contract involving JC Electronics. Rejecting criticism from the ruling coalition, he cautioned panel members against transforming the inquiry into political "execution squads." Conte maintained that his administration's measures were transparent and necessary to safeguard public health during the crisis.
