Belfast Harbour will test zero-emission transport and energy systems following a £15 million investment from UK Research and Innovation.

Belfast Harbour is set to serve as a real-world testing site for zero-emission transport and energy infrastructure, supported by a £15 million grant. The funding comes from the UK Research and Innovation's Local Innovation Partnerships Fund.

Led by maritime design firm Artemis Technologies, the project will focus on integrating electric vessels, high-capacity marine charging stations, autonomous transport solutions, and advanced energy networks. The system will rely on secure digital twin technology to connect and simulate these components within an active operational environment.

The initiative aims to accelerate the adoption of clean technology across maritime and industrial transport sectors by demonstrating its viability in a functioning port.
