Baraboi residents protest administrative merger with Târnova

Residents of Baraboi in Moldova have protested a council vote to merge with Târnova, demanding a halt to the process and favoring a union with Mihăileni.
Residents of Baraboi in Moldova's Dondușeni district have staged protests during a local council meeting, demanding the suspension of a planned administrative amalgamation with the neighboring village of Târnova.
Local citizens accused council members of approving the merger without prior public consultation. Protesters advocated instead for uniting with Mihăileni, a locality in the adjacent Râșcani district that had previously initiated amalgamation talks with Baraboi and Ochiul Alb.
Defending the council's decision, the mayor of Baraboi maintained that the choice to merge with Târnova was primarily motivated by economic factors.
