Political science scholar Alpo Rusi has outlined details on Soviet intelligence threats directed at former Finnish Prime Minister Keijo Liinamaa prior to his death in 1980.

Political science scholar Alpo Rusi has detailed historical evidence showing how Soviet intelligence services attempted to influence Finnish domestic politics during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Writing in a column for Iltalehti, Rusi examined intimidation directed at former Finnish Prime Minister and national conciliator Keijo Liinamaa prior to his death in 1980.

Liinamaa had disclosed these threats to diplomatic contacts before his passing. The analysis highlights Moscow's active efforts to manipulate leadership transitions and ensure a compliant political posture in Helsinki during a crucial phase of Cold War diplomacy in Northern Europe.
