The United States Supreme Court has temporarily lifted a lower court injunction, allowing construction on President Donald Trump's $400 million White House ballroom to resume while legal proceedings continue.

In a 5-4 ruling, the court's conservative majority decided that the administration demonstrated a strong likelihood of dismissing the lawsuit filed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Chief Justice John Roberts issued the order to give the justices additional time to evaluate the administration's emergency petition.

While the court emphasized that the order does not constitute a final judgment on the legality of the project, construction crews may resume work immediately. Consequently, the structural shell of the venue could be completed before the legal dispute reaches its ultimate conclusion.
