The Trump administration has appealed a construction halt on a White House ballroom to the Supreme Court, while a federal judge blocked stricter nationwide mail-in voting rules.

The US administration has petitioned the Supreme Court to overturn a lower-court order that halted construction of a planned White House ballroom, arguing the structure constitutes an essential component of a secure military complex.

Simultaneously, the administration encountered a legal setback regarding electoral policy. A federal judge issued a nationwide preliminary injunction blocking newly tightened mail-in voting restrictions less than three months ahead of the November midterm elections. The legal dispute over the voting regulations is widely anticipated to advance to the Supreme Court.

Separately in Washington, the governing board of the Kennedy Center approved plans to mount an inscription on the cultural facility's exterior recognizing Donald Trump for recent restoration work.
