128 UN member states agreed on a definition for autonomous weapons in Geneva, as Germany outlined its military AI rules and Ukraine partnered with NATO on drone-defense tools.

In Geneva, 128 UN member states agreed on a standard definition for autonomous weapon systems, marking a milestone in efforts toward international regulation. The decision comes alongside warnings from the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross that machine targeting of humans threatens to cross a "moral red line".

Concurrently, Germany's Defence Ministry clarified that while human decision-making governs overall military force, weapon systems may operate semi-autonomously depending on operational context. The Bundeswehr also decided against adopting US firm Palantir's data analysis software, opting to build a proprietary alternative. Meanwhile, Ukraine and NATO have jointly developed two AI applications to forecast hostile drone operations and assist artillery targeting for Ukrainian forces.
