Ukraine's prosecutor general charged NABU chief Semen Kryvonos with forgery before reportedly fleeing the country, as NABU called the move a political attack.

Ukraine's Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko has announced corruption and document forgery charges against Semen Kryvonos, head of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU). Kravchenko claimed Kryvonos orchestrated a fake adoption and forged official documents for financial gain.

The announcement coincided with reports that Kravchenko left Ukraine in a government vehicle, leading President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to urge parliament to accelerate his removal from office.

NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office denied Kryvonos received any formal notice. They described the allegations as an attempt to undermine ongoing investigations into a criminal network involving current and former lawmakers as well as Presidential Office officials.
