Ukraine initiates military command reforms while facing domestic security threats and relentless Russian missile attacks.

Ukraine’s military leadership under newly appointed chief Mykhailo Drapatyj has begun dismantling internal command structures and addressing inefficiencies inherited from previous leadership. The structural shift comes as Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom and former army commander, publicly stated that Ukraine will never join NATO, claiming the alliance relies on outdated strategies ill-suited for modern warfare.

Concurrently, domestic security and defense face severe operational pressures. The Security Service of Ukraine reported neutralizing dozens of Russian assassination plots targeting service members lured through online dating platforms. Meanwhile, recent Russian ballistic missile strikes on the Kyiv region passed without any interceptions by air defenses, sparking renewed calls for Ukrainian forces to target missile launch sites directly inside Russian territory.
