Ukraine's parliament will vote on Wednesday on Yevhen Khmara as Defence Minister as new army chief Mychajlo Drapatyj restructures military command.

The Ukrainian parliament is scheduled to vote on Wednesday on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's nomination of former intelligence chief Yevhen Khmara as Defence Minister, alongside Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. The vote follows the dismissal of Mychajlo Fedorov, who recently warned of a "crisis of governance" and systemic corruption while advocating for wartime elections.

Simultaneously, newly appointed Commander-in-Chief Mychajlo Drapatyj has initiated reforms to dismantle informal patronage networks established by previous commanders. Drapatyj aims to restructure military leadership to ensure capable battlefield officers are advanced. The leadership transitions come after Fedorov's removal triggered public protests as top defense posts undergo reorganization.
