Ukraine uncovers draft evasion schemes and security threats targeting military

Ukrainian authorities have exposed fake teaching hires, desertion schemes, and honeytrap assassination attempts, alongside a Council of Europe report on women's rights.
Ukrainian authorities and investigative reporting have detailed multiple illegal operations involving military draft evasion, army desertion, and security threats against troops. Prosecutors in the Kyiv region exposed private lyceums charging $10,000 upfront and $700 monthly to register men as teachers to secure mobilization deferments. Meanwhile, the State Bureau of Investigation charged three individuals operating a $5,000 to $13,000 scheme to transport active soldiers away from their units, while investigative reports highlighted draft-eligible men entering arranged marriages with disabled women.
On national security, the Security Service of Ukraine revealed that military counterintelligence intercepted over 50 attempts by Russian-recruited women to assassinate soldiers on staged dates using poison or explosives. Separately, the Council of Europe released its first evaluation reviewing Ukraine's progress under the Istanbul Convention.
