Ukraine is developing indigenous ballistic missiles and glide bomb kits to enhance defense capabilities while foreign Patriot production remains years away.

Ukraine is pursuing domestic defense technologies to offset vulnerabilities caused by foreign supply delays and persistent Russian missile strikes. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that local production of Patriot air defense systems under American licensing will take up to several years due to bureaucratic procedures.

To manage ongoing shortfalls, Ukrainian developers are creating indigenous ballistic missiles for long-range strikes, despite initial manufacturing hurdles. Simultaneously, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are procuring the "Equalizer" glide bomb kit. Developed by DG Industry with the Brave1 initiative, the module upgrades unguided aerial bombs into precision standoff munitions for Soviet-era and Western jets. These initiatives aim to enhance military self-reliance.
