Rights groups and media outlets in Turkey have released August gender-based violence figures, while Siirt prosecutors filed charges in a 2024 murder case.

Rights organizations and independent media in Turkey have published gender-based violence data for August. According to the We Will Stop Femicide Platform, 22 women were killed and 33 died under suspicious circumstances during the month, with 55 percent of the homicides taking place inside victims' homes. Separately, news outlet Bianet reported that men killed at least 25 women and injured 71 others during the same timeframe.

In judicial developments, a court in Siirt accepted an indictment against five suspects following an investigation into the death of a mother of four who vanished in October 2024. Prosecutors established the homicide using digital footprints, telecommunications metadata, and license plate tracking records. The defendants include the victim's former husband, father-in-law, and brother-in-law.
