Trump urges Zelensky and Putin to negotiate end to war before winter

US President Donald Trump has urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to reach an agreement to end the war in Ukraine before winter. Following a telephone call with Putin and a face-to-face meeting with Zelensky, Trump expressed confidence that Moscow is open to negotiations, stating, "He wants a deal and, if Zelensky wants a deal, it would be great."

Zelensky described his meeting with Trump as positive and productive, adding that Washington and Kyiv share the objective of ending the conflict in the coming months. However, neither leader provided specific terms or framework conditions for potential negotiations.
