Trump urges Ukraine and Russia to reach peace deal before winter
US President Donald Trump has called on Kyiv and Moscow to reach a deal ending the conflict in Ukraine before winter following talks with both leaders.
US President Donald Trump has called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate an agreement ending the war in Ukraine prior to winter. Following a telephone conversation with Putin and a meeting with Zelensky, Trump expressed confidence that Moscow is seeking a resolution, stating, "He wants a deal and, if Zelensky wants a deal, it would be great."
Zelensky described his discussions with Trump as positive and productive, noting that both Washington and Kyiv aim to halt Russian military operations in the coming months. While Trump indicated broad alignment with Zelensky on various topics, he stressed the necessity for direct compromise between the warring nations.
