Trump urges Zelensky and Putin to reach deal before winter

US President Donald Trump has urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin to negotiate a settlement to end the war in Ukraine prior to winter. Speaking after a phone conversation with Putin and a subsequent meeting with Zelensky, Trump expressed confidence that the Russian leader seeks a resolution, remarking, "He wants a deal and, if Zelensky wants a deal, it would be great."

Zelensky described his discussions with Trump as "positive and productive," noting that both Washington and Kyiv aim for the conflict to conclude in the coming months. However, neither leader disclosed specific framework details for potential peace talks.
