Trump claims Russia and Ukraine agreed to pause energy strikes amid ongoing clashes

US President Trump announced an agreement between Russia and Ukraine to halt energy strikes, even as regional attacks and new EU sanctions continue.
United States President Donald Trump announced that Russia and Ukraine agreed to stop targeting each other's energy infrastructure. However, hostilities persisted across several fronts. Ukrainian officials reported two fatalities and 14 injuries from shelling in the Kherson region, while drone strikes in Russia's Sochi and Belgorod regions wounded seven people.
Concurrently, European Union diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned a Russian attack on a train near the Ukrainian border with Poland, characterizing it as an effort to intimidate European partners. In response to continuing aggression, the EU formally extended its sanctions against Moscow. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree removing the nation's prosecutor general from office.
