EU extends sanctions on Russia following strike near Polish border

The EU has extended sanctions against Russia after a strike near the Polish border, while regional hostilities persist and Ukraine's prosecutor general is dismissed.
The European Union has extended sanctions against Russia following a missile strike on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned the attack, stating it was intended to intimidate European nations and sow division.
Despite claims by US President Donald Trump that Moscow and Kyiv agreed to cease strikes on energy infrastructure, hostilities continue across multiple fronts. Shelling in Ukraine's Kherson region killed two people and wounded 14 others, while Ukrainian drone attacks in Russia's Sochi and Belgorod regions injured seven people. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree officially dismissing the country's prosecutor general.
