The EU extended sanctions on Russia following a train attack near the Polish border, while cross-border strikes and political dismissals continue.

The European Union has renewed its sanctions against Russia following a missile attack on a train near the Ukrainian-Polish border. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot condemned the strike, characterizing it as an intentional effort to intimidate European nations and create division among allies.

Despite recent claims by US President Donald Trump that Moscow and Kyiv had agreed to halt strikes on energy infrastructure, hostilities continue across multiple fronts. Ukrainian authorities reported that shelling in the Kherson region killed two people and injured 14 others. Concurrently, drone strikes targeting Russia's Sochi and Belgorod regions left seven people wounded.

On the domestic front in Kyiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed an executive decree officially removing the country's prosecutor general from office.
