Search and rescue operations continue along the Nepal-Tibet border following a catastrophic glacial flood, with casualty estimates varying widely.

Emergency responders across Nepal and Tibet are searching for survivors after a glacial collapse triggered severe flash floods along the Himalayan border. The surge of mud and debris destroyed homes, roads, and power infrastructure, leaving numerous communities isolated.

Discrepancies remain regarding the total scale of casualties. The Guardian and STV News reported at least 168 fatalities combined and over 1,000 to 1,300 people missing, including hundreds of foreign tourists. France24 initially reported a lower toll of 22 deaths on the Nepali side, while Chinese search teams focused on Tibet's Gyirong sector. Conversely, the Sweden Herald cited reports indicating the death toll had surpassed 390, with more than 1,400 individuals unaccounted for. Rescue operations remain ongoing.
